2016 Staff Awards Night

Last Tuesday night, Canterbury League Club celebrated the achievements and service of 44 staff members at their annual Staff Awards Night.

Every year the Club recognises staff members who reach five-year service milestones at Canterbury – awards for 5, 10, 15,20 and 25 years were presented to winners from various departments including Food and Beverage, Gaming, Security and Surveillance, C-Life, IT and Reception.

Local organisations are big winners in Canterbury ClubGRANTS 2016

There were plenty of winners and grinners with 20 local organisations receiving $283,668 worth of community grants from Canterbury League Club through their ClubGRANTS program.

Local organisations use the funding to run specific health and social welfare programs that assist different groups in need within the local community. Some of the projects include a child abuse prevention service, a program to engage autistic children, a mental health awareness expo and a fall prevention program for culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) seniors.

New bread van delivering to the needy

Gift of Bread volunteers are cruising around on new wheels, delivering bread to Sydney’s neediest, after receiving a $35,000 Canterbury donation to purchase a new van.

The new Toyota Hiace van, aptly named ‘Spirit of Hope’, delivers freshly-baked bread every day to charitable organisations, nursing and boarding houses, special schools, churches and outreach programs all over Sydney.
