Empowering young girls to be physically and mentally fit

Belmore PCYC Manager, Andrew Shenouda, is a big believer of health and fitness and the positive effect it has on both the physical and mental wellbeing.

Seeing a need in the youth community and thanks to a $7,4000 donation from Canterbury League Club which covered all of the program costs, over 80 students from Wiley Park Girls High School and Beverly Hills Girls High School have each spent a term being put through their paces by the team at Belmore PCYC.

Say hello to Toli – coffee aficionado and Bakehouse Café’s Head Barista.

Toli’s coffee journey started when he was only 17 years old and working in his family’s café in New Zealand.

Starlight Telethon bringing smiles to sick kids

Starlight’s ‘Big Change for Little Champions’ Telethon on the NRL Footy Show had an ambitious goal to raise $500,000 but it received a hefty boost with the help of a $20,000 donation from Canterbury League Club.

Canterbury Chairman Dr George Peponis OAM was on hand during a live cross-feed from the Bulldogs’ Presentation Night to award the cheque to Starlight together with Bulldogs’ Captain James Graham and Aidan Tolman.

Thank you for supporting our pink month!

For the entire month of October, Canterbury turned PINK to show support for National Breast Cancer Foundation's (NBCF) Breast Cancer Awareness Month and in the process, raised $733.55 for the prevention and cure of breast cancer.

Canterbury fundraised by pledging a portion of pink dessert sales from Banyan Brasserie, through donation boxes at Reception, and also from C-Life members who donated their time and money by sweating it out in pink group fitness classes.

Grant brings new life to girl guide hall

A rundown Girl Guide hall in Greenacre was going to be too dangerous to host its new guide group if it wasn’t for a $5,000 donation from Canterbury League Club which went towards major repairs and renovations.

One of the NSW Girl Guides group, which had been operating in Homebush since 1965, was displaced from their original hall due to the West Connex development and it meant that leaders had to quickly find another venue.
