Canterbury and the Bulldogs rallied together to show their support for recently injured Newcastle Knight, Alex McKinnon.

In the week leading up to the Bulldogs’ Round 8 game against the Knights, donation boxes were put out around the club for patrons to show their support. Canterbury also contributed another $10,000 to the 'Rise for Alex' fundraiser.  

Fans were more than happy to help out with donations when the Bulldogs sent around collection tins during the Saturday game – raising over $3,500.

For some high-school leavers, going to university may be a financial challenge and a drain on an already over-stretched family budget.

Data collected by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS 2011 Survey) shows that the number of South West Sydney residents attending university is below the national average of NSW.

Getting locked up for a good cause

The Canterbury foyer was temporarily transformed into a mini mock gaol cell in support of Belmore Police Citizens Youth Club’s (PCYC) annual fundraiser, Time 4 Kids.

Time 4 Kids is an opportunity for local members of the community, business owners and high-profile people to participate in PCYC’s fundraiser to highlight youth crime prevention and youth development. ‘Inmates’ volunteer an hour of their time to be locked-up for charity and then raise bail through community donations in order to be set free.

Locked up to show support for Belmore PCYC

Belmore PCYC is holding its annual fundraiser, Time 4 Kids, in conjunction with Youth Week 4-13 April 2014.

Time 4 Kids is an opportunity for local members of the community, business owners and high-profile people to donate an hour of their time and, under the supervision of a Police Officer, be locked-up in mock gaol cells for charity. ‘Inmates’ must then raise bail through community donations in order to be set free.

Looking for the next junior star

Canterbury is on the lookout for the next shining star in their school holiday junior talent quest.

Canterbury’s Search for a Star, running every day from Monday 14 April till Wednesday 16 April, is open to children between the ages of 6 to 13 years who have a special talent to show off.

There will be four heats on Monday and Tuesday; the first heat is from 10.30am - 12 noon and the second heat will start at 1.30pm and finish at 3.00pm. The first three winners of each heat will proceed to the Grand Finals on Wednesday.
