NEW CAR TO BOOST PATIENT TRANSPORT SERVICES
People living in the local Canterbury-Bankstown area will have easier transport access to their doctors’ appointments after Canterbury League Club recently donated a $33,000 Hyundai i30 car to Sir Roden & Lady Cutler Foundation in support of their medical patient transport service program.
Since 1999, Sir Roden & Lady Cutler Foundation have been providing emergency transport for the young, the elderly and people with disabilities needing to get to and from vital medical appointments. The transport service program is a free service for the community and is powered by the generous time of community volunteer drivers who donate their time during the week.
The eye-catching white and Bulldogs blue car has been ferrying community members to their medical appointments all around Sydney after it was recently put into service earlier this month.
“There is a need for this service; there are people living in the community who are living alone and may struggle to get to medical appointments by themselves,” said Virginia Flint, Community Relations & Partnerships Manager, Sir Roden & Lady Cutler Foundation.
“Many of our clients are also elderly and may live alone, so this service also allows them to reconnect with society by getting to know our volunteer drivers – it just makes their day!”
“Our goal is to help enhance the overall quality of life of our clients as well as help regain their autonomy, independence, and respect,” said Virginia.
