CANTERBURY PROMOTES SUSTAINABLE SEAFOOD

7 March 2013

On Friday 15 March Canterbury League Club will be participating in Sustainable Seafood Day.
Organised by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC), Sustainable Seafood Day is all about rewarding those fisheries that have met the MSC standard for a well-managed and sustainable fishery. It asks restaurants and consumers in Australia to seek out, serve and eat MSC certified seafood to show their support.

According to Canterbury CEO Dave Brace, ethical and sustainable methods for sourcing produce are important for everyone. “We run a large number of restaurants across our clubs and it is important that we show leadership when it comes to promoting sustainable practices. We want to do our part to ensure that future generations can continue to enjoy the wonderful seafood in the same way that we presently do.”

As part of Canterbury’s participation in Sustainable Seafood Day, the Banyan and Flame Restaurants will be serving special MSC certified dishes for lunch and dinner.
