Belfield RSL gets new Asian restaurant

A customer’s off-hand suggestion was the first inkling of expanding Strathfield locals’ favourite restaurant, Sun Tat Asian Cuisine.

The new restaurant, called Serene Palace, is trading from Belfield RSL on Persic Street while the original Sun Tat restaurant is still operating as usual on Liverpool Road.

Christine Cheung and Raymond Yeung, who have managed Sun Tat for the past seven years, are excited to be heading up their new second restaurant and bringing their authentic local dishes to residents of Belfield and the surrounding areas.

“We were unable to accommodate larger reservations due to the small size of our [Sun Tat] restaurant. Some of our frequent customers were the ones who suggested Belfield RSL which at that time didn’t have a restaurant. They were very supportive of our decision to expand [to a second location],” said Christine Cheung, manager of Serene Palace.

Serene Palace’s menu is still serving up the delicious Asian cuisine that made their original restaurant so popular in the first place. The food is heavily influenced by Chinese, Malaysian and Thai cultures, with popular dishes such as beef rendang, salt and pepper squid, Thai basil chicken and their laksa proving particular crowd-favourites.

“The versatility of our menus stems from the central idea to cater for a large range of cultures and cuisines in order to satisfy almost any customer who come through our doors,” said Christine.

For those wanting to book buffet or banquet-style functions at the restaurant, Serene Palace can now offer comfortable dining solutions for up to 120 guests with its larger space.

The restaurant is currently running a $5 weekday lunch promotion which includes a main dish, rice and soup, and this will run till the new year. On the weekends, Serene Palace serves up a variety of yum cha and dim sims from 11am to 4pm.
